Hi, I’m Victor

I collect salvaged wood, specifically from old trees that have fallen down, or need to be taken down from family properties in Kingston and across Ontario, preventing them from ending up in the landfill. I am fascinated by the unique colours each type of wood presents from apple trees, lilac trees to oak, or maple.

I aim to preserve the wood’s beauty by creating hand-crafted and one of kind creations.

How It’s Made..

I have been creating custom furniture for two decades along with my one of a kind pieces. Perhaps you’ve even purchased some of my pieces before from the former Cobalt Gallery on Kingston Rd in the Beach.

My favourite spot is in my workshop, where I live in Toronto. I use specific lathe turning techniques to create my rounded shapes. First, the cut pieces of wood need to dry for 1-2 years before they can be turned. After they have been turned on the lathe, they need to dry again before they can be sanded and stained. Often the wood pieces present natural cracks, sometimes small cracks are formed by the lathe, where I add various colours of resin to add that one of a kind flair. I love how the bright colours contrast against the natural grains in the wood.
